Update your resume and make sure it is clean – uniform fonts, proper grammar and clean formats are the minimum. Not only is this crucial for Applicant Tracking Systems but it is a direct reflection of you and how much you care about yourself and the job you are applying for.
Be energized! Job searching is exhausting. Make sure you are eating well, sleeping enough and approaching the day with a positive attitude.
Get into the Word – it will change your mind set.
Smile through the phone – people can tell when you are excited about an opportunity. Brighten someone’s day.
Be confident. You were created on purpose for a purpose. Don’t forget it. God has big plans for you… to prosper you not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). If you feel like you lack confidence, ask the Lord for help!
Educating yourself in your area of expertise and staying on top of what is going on in your industry can be a huge confidence booster. Make sure you are not only well educated about the company you are interviewing with, but go the extra mile and dig up a gem about something that company has experienced in the last year. It will set you apart. Let them know it.
Have fun and embrace where you are. The journey grows you. It changes you and helps you become more like Christ. Don’t rush it. Everything is in God’s perfect timing.
